"To inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.” -Dean Kamen

FRC Team 2648 is part of an international organization called FIRST (For the Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). FIRST was founded in 1989 by Dean Kamen and Woodie Flowers in Manchester, NH. The organization supports 3 different competitive divisions; the FIRST Lego League (grades 4-8), the FIRST Tech Challenge (grades 9-12), and the FIRST Robotics Competition (grades 9-12). FIRST hopes to help inspire people at a younger age to become well educated in mathematics and the sciences and to get involved with the technology they have available to them, so that they may continue to become the engineers, mathematicians, doctors, scientists, and entrepreneurs of the next generation. FIRST works to improve the environment around us, as well as encourage kids and teens to follow their dreams, and believe in themselves. It teaches its participants to believe in the power of their mind, as well as gives them the initiative to take charge of their education, in a new, fun way.

FIRST 20th anniversary logo

FIRST Robotics Competition is celebrating its 20th season this year! The organization has grown from 1 event in 1992 to almost 60 events and more than 2000 teams competing this season. FRC has also welcomed many new countries in the past 20 years, and now includes Regional Competitions outside the US. Although the organization has grown, the original goals and ideals of FIRST have not been lost. Each team is encouraged to promote Gracious Professionalism and Coopertition.

If you are interested in starting a FIRST Lego League team or FIRST Robotics Competition team, please contact us. We have successfully started an FLL team at our middle school in the last year (FLL Team 8264), and we are excited to welcome other FRC teams to our area!

To create a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology heroes.

Enough from us, You know you want to chek them out!
